What We Collect

When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, church or business name, and your message. When you use the Free Scan tool, we collect the website URL you submit and, if you choose one, your type of organization; our server then visits that page and sends its address to Google PageSpeed Insights to test it. If you request the PDF report, we also collect your name and email address, and the scanned URL, your score and a summary of your results are sent to us along with them. We measure traffic with Plausible Analytics, which uses no cookies and no persistent visitor identifiers. It records which pages are viewed, where visitors came from, their browser and device, and their approximate location (worked out from the IP address, which Plausible does not store), plus a few events on this site, such as opening the Arti chat or finishing the Meet Arti quiz. When Arti links you to the pricing page, the link carries a short code for that browser tab's chat, so we can see which chats lead to a pricing visit. That's it.

The Meet Arti quiz runs in your browser. Your individual answers are never sent; only the result areas are counted. We count, anonymously, how many people start and finish it, which result area comes up most (for example, “secure”), and which lesson links are clicked, so we know what to write about next.

How We Use It

We use your information to respond to inquiries, deliver project consultations, and run the free visibility scan. We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers listed under Third-Party Services, and only so they can run the part of this site they power. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising. We do not store payment information.

Third-Party Services

These companies process information on our behalf to run this site:

Vercel hosts this website and its servers. Like any web host, it handles every request, including your IP address and browser details.

Web3Forms delivers contact form submissions and Free Scan report requests to our inbox. It stores a copy of each submission for a limited time (three years at most) and may check your IP address and email with the spam filters CleanTalk and Akismet.

Plausible Analytics counts visits and site events, as described above.

Anthropic writes Arti’s replies and scores them for quality (see AI Assistant below).

Sentry receives error reports when the Arti chat server fails (see AI Assistant below).

Google PageSpeed Insights receives the website address you submit to the Free Scan, so it can test that page.

These services operate under their own privacy policies. Artifex does not control their data handling practices.

Data Retention

We keep contact form submissions only as long as needed to respond and manage the client relationship; Web3Forms keeps its own copy as described above. Scan results are not stored on our servers.

Your Rights

You can request that your data be deleted at any time by emailing contact@artifex-web.com.

AI Assistant (Arti)

What it is. Arti is an AI chat assistant that appears in the bottom-right corner of every page. It's powered by Claude (Anthropic) and trained on the public content of artifex-web.com.

What we collect through chat. The text you type, your IP address, and timestamps. Your IP address is held in memory for up to 10 minutes to limit how many messages can be sent; our logs keep only a one-way coded version of it. We do not require sign-in. We do not set tracking cookies for the chat. We do not collect your name, email, or phone unless you choose to type it into the conversation.

Where your data goes. Messages are forwarded to Anthropic's API to generate replies. Anthropic does not train its models on your conversations under their commercial terms. After each reply, a second automatic request sends that question and the reply to Anthropic again so the reply can be scored for quality. Our logs keep the score, never the text of the question or the reply.

Error reporting. If a chat request fails, an error code and technical details about the failure are sent to Sentry, our error-reporting service. We configure Sentry not to receive the text of your conversation or your IP address.

Retention. Anthropic automatically deletes API messages within 30 days, unless they are flagged for a Usage Policy violation (then kept up to 2 years) or the law requires longer. Your local chat history is stored in your browser's sessionStorage and clears when you close the tab. Our server logs hold metadata only, never message contents, and are kept for no more than one day.

Limitations. The chat is not a confidential channel. Do not enter passwords, payment information, government IDs, or medical records. For formal requests, email contact@artifex-web.com directly.

Opt out. The widget is supplemental — every page is fully usable without it. To delete server-side records or request data access, email contact@artifex-web.com.
